My Aviation Journey

In the Beginning

Ariel view of where I learned to fly

Since I knew what an airplane was, I have wanted to fly one. I would lie in the grass for hours, watching, wondering...what would it be like?

So, I spent my teenage years yearning to fly, and the duration of my 20's trying to ignore the desire. When I was 32, I decided I couldn't wait any longer and took the plunge:

I signed up for my first private pilot ground school class.

Since no one is hiring pilots right now, I am back in school learning some different skills. Here is a link to my school (Columbus State Community College).

Flight Training

On my first training flight I learned a few things:

  • Just because I averaged a 95% in my ground school class didn't mean I could be smug.
  • Steering a vehicle with your feet is as difficult as it sounds
  • Taking a nap afterward is normal
  • Pilot Certificates and Ratings Private
